About Charity

Aloha,

My name is Charity Vazquez. I am happily married to a wonderfully supportive husband, and am the mother of four beautifully unique children. I have been an artist all my life, but it is my family that has helped guides my creative choices. After four children my messy paints have been packed away and my creative outlet quickly and effortlessly moved from painting to Photoshop. With the help of my very own tiny models I have discovered my passion for photography. As a mother I am so fortunate to have the memories of my pregnancies and of my children's lives at my finger tips. I feel honored to be able to offer this same treasure to other families. My life, my love, and my passion revolve around family, both mine and yours.

My Art

As a Photographer I am mostly "self taught". This is not to say that I have no training. It simply means that I have been allowed the freedom to follow inspiration instead of rules. I have allowed the artists that I admire to be my teachers. Through their books, blogs, classes, and generous offers of personal guidance, I have learned so much! I have a full range of professional cameras, lenses, and other photographic equipment. My camera is my eyes so without extensive knowledge on how to properly use it I would be blind.

Over the years I have been able to refine my vision and develop my own unique style. My photographic style has been described as "beautifully simple" and "creatively natural". I am a natural light photographer. I obsess about light! Where it is, where I want it, and how I'm going to get it there. I allow light to help me tell my story and pride myself on being able to find light in even the most unexpected places.

I enjoy natural spontaneous portraits the most. I will give gentle guidance on what is most faltering in your photos but I am not fond of "posses". I am a mother, so I know it can take some time for children to open up. I never want my clients to feel stressed or rushed. My sessions should be fun, relaxing, and memorable. My unforced approach to photography has allowed me to capture some of my very favorite shots!
